Secondary use of light as a source of heat.  The springs have sufficient pressure to ensure stability without being too tight, so as to enable the spirals of those springs to hold little notes, business cards, or sugar bags.  The cups of coffee which need to be warmed up prior to serving the espresso, are put on top of the upper spirals, which ensures that the coffee does not get cold upon the initial contact with the cup.  The entire object is made out of springs without any joints or supporting accessories.
